time to get a flowbee

The guy at the Dunkin' Donuts drive-through yesterday called Mack "little girl." He's the third person in a month to do this. But come on, his hair's not that long, is it?

(Full disclosure: it's pretty long. Also it has pretty waves in the back. He's my pretty princess.)

  1. His hair is beautiful. You just let it grow if you want to. That's what I did with my boys, anyway. I can't really get with those manly-dude haircuts on boys who are - come on - still babies.

And oh, my goodness, those plump cheeks!

  2. What are they expecting on a little boy, a crew cut?

I, like you, am the mother of two boys. My youngest son, when he was little, was blond and had ringlets (now we're all brown-haired)! From already having an older son (like you), I knew that there was only a *very short* period of time within which I would be able to have a child with fluffy ringlets.

The world be damned! I kept his hair ringletted and long until it was no longer possible to do so. Then those days were gone forever.

So treasure them while you have them, take pictures of them, and snip a curl off and put it in the baby book. Those days are gone so fast!

Whenever you blog about your boys, it makes me so nostalgic...

  4. That happened to me with my second son also. I suppose the fluffy blond curls trumped the blue clothes and cars he clutched in each had. After the third time hearing about his "beautiful little princess" my husband threatened to give him a buzz cut. I'm not sure who cried more at the barber shop, me or my son. I did hold out until he was about 18 months, though.

  7. People seem to always assume the opposite gender of whichever baby is in question. When my daughter was little, she could have been dressed head to toe in pink and flowers and I would invariably get "how old is he" or "he's such a cute baby." Go figure. He's really cute. Keep the hair however *you* want.

  8. I was mistaken as a boy because my hair was so so sparse. My mom resorted to putting a hairpin in my hair(urhm, well on my head more so than in my three strands of hair).

Always wanted to try a flowbee!! My grandmother loved my dad's long, luxurious locks, refraining from shearing them until he was three - what a shock for the poor lad. I love to look at pictures of him in short pants and ringlets!
