baby vs. residency, a critical comparison, part 1

  1. My mentor has told me that having a baby was "nothing" compared to being a critical care fellow.

Of course, he is a man. I wonder if is wife feels the same way.....

  2. Ha! I'm a fellow in a surgical field, and just had a baby. Though the sleep deprivation is similar, having a baby is so much better - since it's YOUR baby, you love them, you know they need to eat, etc, etc. Beats the hell out of getting paged non-stop for silly things, or to see painful ER consults, etc.

(On a side note, now that the comments are back - Michelle, I just wanted to say that I've been a fan for a while. I was a year below you at Columbia, and went to residency with some of your classmates, who introduced me to your blog. Glad things have been going so well for you!)
