Oh man, so many good ideas from that last entry!  So many that I'm actually going to quit my job now and just work the kindergarden circuit, teaching cooking.  SUCKS TO YOUR ASSMAR, MEDICAL SCHOOL EDUCATION.  No, not really.  (But maybe.)

Anyway, I haven't decided on the final project (will take a little more research and following some of the links you guys posted), but needless to say I will share the plans when the time comes, and there will be pictures.  Because pictures are helpful, and also (pro tip!) make the entry seem longer. are some pictures!

At dinner tonight.  We went to a place called Sweet Tomatoes, which is apparently some kind of all-you-can-eat soup and salad chain.  I'd never eaten there until about two weeks ago, but our realtor took us there for lunch right before we went to the lawyers office on our closing day, and it fills the specific niche in our lives of being a casual but relatively healthy restaurant with a lot of choices for the kids.  Also, did I mention that Cal ate for $3.00 and Mack got to eat for free?  And each of them ate more than I did?  Socking it to the man!

This picture, by the way, is to emphasize how much Mack and Joe look alike. Oy, those foreheads!

Secondly, this from the front of an envelope of a letter that Cal wrote one of his friends from school, and which he instructed us to drop into the postal box ASAP.

"For you male man."

I don't know why I think this is so funny but IT JUST IS.

Hope you're having a good weekend. And again, thank you so much for all your great suggestions in the last entry.  At some point I'm going to go back and write them all down, because there's gold in them thar hills.

  1. I used to like Sweet Tomatoes a LOT until they jacked up the prices. Plus, it got annoying that everything there is low-sodium and low-sugar. Still good, but... meh.

Love the Lord of the Flies reference!

Loooove Sweet Tomatoes! Sign up for their email list and they'll send you weekly coupons that make it an even better deal. I, too, love that my kids eat so cheaply there despite the fact that they regularly out-eat me.

  4. Sweet Tomatoes... their sister chain, Souplantation, was a big favorite of my family's when my sister and I were growing up in the LA area. However, us kids grew out of the idea of "going out to eat" meant Souplantation, while my parents never did...

  5. Holy heck - a restaurant that has low sodium [CHF person here] and low sugar - the AUDACITY of a restaurant to actually try to feed us healthy.

    Good lord...the abomination.

Too bad they don't exist in my part of the US - I might actually go out to eat. And pay top dollar to not have to worry about the salt content for once.

And yes, that whole "forehead" thing is totally going on and CUTE! Like father like son.

    Your realtor, the big spender!

  7. Actually, lunch was our treat. :)

  8. I'm laughing at Joe's T-shirt! Is there something else you need to tell us? Planning on buying some heifers for your new back yard ;-)

  9. I grew up eating at Sweet Tomatoes in Northern California. It was next to the Costco, so my parents always made an event of it when they got coupons in the mail. When I was in undergrad, I craved it so much that I drove 3 hours to eat dinner there with my GF who had been hearing me hype it up for the better part of our relationship. It turned out to be pretty mediocre that night, and I don't think she's ever forgiven me for that trip.

  10. Two words...Bieber Bangs!!

Is Joe eating a bowl of ranch dressing?

Because the male man, is, well, male. And happens to deliver mail. Props to Cal :)

  13. I'm now a proud New Yorker, but, MAN do I miss the Sweet Tomatoes of my youth. I always hit it when I go home. Gorge yet still feel kinda healthy doing it!

Mack and Joe don't look anything alike. Mack is half-Asian.

  15. I love Sweet Tomatoes.
